The Go Beyond Education beta is leveraging Google and Amazon products, as well as other free apps and resources for the pursuit of developing an interest in reading for children of all ages. For Chrome OS and Android tablets, we recommend downloading the PBS kids apps, Kindle, Audible, Amazon Kids+, Libby, and Google Family Link for parental controls.
Google Family Link
This is an app that will allow parents to exert controls over their children’s devices and Google accounts. It allows parents to control when their children can use the devices, and can lock the device either remotely or at a set time. You can select allowed hours for every day of the week, and grant bonus time to your child. You can also set how many hours your child can spend on individual apps. Google has a wonderful page that describes the features of the app: https://families.google.com/familylink/
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
A Google account for the parent(s)
A Google account for the child/children
For the child device, you must have a device running Chrome OS, or a device running Android 7.0 or later
For parents, either: a device running Chrome OS, a device running Android 5.0 or later, or iOS 11 and later
GETTING STARTED
On the child device, navigate to the Google Play Store and install Google Family Link for Children and Teens
